Trainer Peter-John Parsard's filly, Bootylicious, proved unstoppable in a recent Overnight Allowance contest over five furlongs on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
"Bootylicious did fantastic," Parsard said. “ She dominated the race, leaving her rivals far behind with an impressive 6 ¼ length lead and a scorching time of 1:00.0.
This victory adds to Bootylicious' growing resume. It's her second win this season and sixth overall. Parsard is effusive in his praise: "Sometimes harder said than done but we were able to get the job done. We were confident going into this race and we did expect this kind of performance and she did pretty much what we expected her to do."
However, competing against imported horses and colts presents a challenge. "As a local bred filly, it is unfortunate in Jamaica that she has to run against so many foreigners and many colts," Parsard acknowledges.
Despite this, his confidence remains high: "I think she is one of the best fillies in Jamaica." Parsard plans to keep testing her limits, "we will put her up there [in class] and see what she will do."
