KINGSTON, Jamaica – Installed at the prohibitive 1-5 favourite, Billy Whizz left his conditioned status behind with an emphatic victory in the Caymanas Saturday ninth.
The Caymanas Saturday ninth was for three-year-old and upwards horses (non-winners of four races) going seven furlongs.
Billy Whizz, with regular rider Dick Cardenas in the saddle for trainer Jason DaCosta, as expected was pushed to the lead, and was unexpectedly challenged by Bern Notice (Tevin Foster).
Still, with a lot in hand, Billy Whizz left all behind rounding the bend to enter the last two furlongs of the stretch drive in command.
Briefly, Press Conference (Jordan Barrett) looked as if he would trouble Billy Whizz, but that was not to be, as the latter could not be touched on the day.
Santorini (Linton Steadman) ran on for second with Bern Notice third.
Billy Whizz, in winning for the fourth occasion has now put his total earnings to over $7 million. He was the second winner on the day for DaCosta.
