KINGSTON, Jamaica – Billy Whizz, racing over a trip (nine furlongs) which he prefers, opened his 2022 winning account with an easy effort at the Overnight Allowance level with Anthony Thomas in the saddle for trainer Jason DaCosta,
Billy Whizz set off into the lead when he left his starting stall but was quickly challenged by Supreme Soul (Robert Halledeen) with Laban (Bebeto Harvey) filling the third slot.
Thomas waited on Billy Whizz until he reached the half-mile marker and then he decided it was time to go and Billy Whizz responded by pushing on by three to four lengths.
In the straight, it was all Billy Whizz, with Santorini (Jordan Barrett) coming on for second. Laban finished third.
The winning time was 1:52.1.
