KINGSTON, Jamaica -Seven runners will contest the annual renewal of the $1.1-m Reynold “Ren” Gonzalves Memorial Cup over nine furlongs and 25 yards. The race is for three-year-olds and upward horses at the Non-Restricted Overnight Allowance level.
Below is the analysis of each runner.
1) BIG JULE: (4 b c by Tapizar – Blues In The Grass) – Talented runner who was second to Excessive Force back on February 22, and now returns for his first racing assignment since then. Big Jule has a likeness for two turns and with the tongue tie fitted again is expected to give his best, especially after being well prepared.
2) BERN NOTICE: (4 ch c by Bern Identity – Blufield) – Still not ready for a competitive run at this level, especially against these.
3) UNCLE FRANK: (8 dkb g by Storm Craft – Dusty Milly) – A winner among claimers seven days ago, Uncle Frank will have difficulties repeating.
4) BEST DAUGHTER EVER (USA): (5 gr f by He’s Had Enough – Family First) – Best Daughter Ever is a lover of two-turn races. She is returning from a long break of 196 days, and for sure she will need time to refresh herself before winning is a consideration.
5) MINIATURE MAN: 4 ch g by Northern Giant – Runaway Gal) – Finished a wandering second behind Eroy at the races on June 26. Miniature Man after a long break due to injuries and after four starts this season is yet to find his true self. This event provides an opportunity for him to regain lost favour but he has gone up in the weights by 9 lbs.
6) RAS EMANUEL: (10 b h by Burning Marque – Pleasant Princess) – Consistent sort who should not trouble the main principals at this journey.
7) AWESOME TREASURE (USA): (5 b m by Awesome of Course – Bossy Gal) – Slowly but surely rounding into form. Awesome Treasure should run a pleasing race without winning.
