KINGSTON, Jamaica – The fifth event on Saturday, August 26, 2023, is a three-year-old maiden call in which nine horses will enter the starting barriers.
The distance to be travelled is 6 ½ furlongs, with The Quick Galloper’s horse-by-horse analysis provided below.
– HERE COMES DOC is a bay colt (March 23) by Bern Identity out of Indian Bluff, trained by Gary Griffiths with Anthony Allen aboard. Finished a distance third behind Mr Senator going the two turns of nine furlongs and 25 yards just seven days ago but was interfered with in the straight. Here Comes Doc should be better suited by the shortened trip, and should be in the thick of things when the winning post arrives.
– UNCLE SYL is a bay colt (March 13) by Resurgence out of Mama C, trained by Carlton Cunningham with Jemar Jackson in the saddle. Note that Uncle Syl races with the tongue tie on. Needs more time.
– SIR H.G.F is a roan colt (February 16) by Lion Tamer out of Alpha Lupa, trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Note that Sir H.G.F races with the figure 8 on. Not ready yet to handle these rivals.
– WATERMAN JOHN is a bay colt (February 7) by Sensational Slam out of Giacomo’s Pride, trained by Fitzgerald Richards with Tevin Foster in the saddle. Note that Waterman John races with the figure 8 on. Waterman John came flying home on August 19, just failing to catch Money Box at seven furlongs. Waterman John having paid his dues in his six starts to date, and with improvement shown, is poised to reap winning success.
– BERNARD DE QUICK is a bay colt (June 17) by Bern Identity out of Feasibility Study, trained by Peter-John Parsard with Omar Walker aboard. Made an impression on debut (August 1) and with that blowout, plus the expected progression, Bernard De Quick must be placed in the winning mix.
– JOBLANE is a bay colt (May 18) by Savoy Stomp out of Patchwork, trained by Richard Azan with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Note that Joblane races with the visor on. The Richard Azan stable is on fire these days. Joblane after eight starts is still trying to find his way. Will do so with time.
– DREAM WARRIOR is a bay colt (March 30) by Soul Warrior out of Dreamcometrue, trained by Byron Davis with Richard Cole aboard. Note that Dream Worrior races with the blinkers off. Far from being ready for a winning effort.
– WAR HORSE is a bay colt (February 19) by Smokin Man out of Storm Watch, trained by Andrew McDonald with Phillip Parchment holding the reins. Note that War Horse races with the visor off, the blinkers on, and the figure 8 off. Has no realistic chance of winning.
– SMART PLAYER is a bay colt (May 20) by Wannabeaplayer out of Gaza Sheree, trained by Edward Walker with Ramon Nepare in the saddle. Still far behind at this stage of his career.
