KINGSTON, Jamaica – Three-year-old bay colt Bernard De Quik, who finished fifth on debut as the favorite in a 6-furlong race on August 1, made a triumphant return by easily defeating rivals in a 6 ½ furlong call.
Bernard De Quik secured his first victory in a maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-olds, winning by four lengths.
Under jockey Omar Walker and trainer Peter-John Parsard's guidance, Bernard De Quik had a good start and settled in mid-pack just behind the early front runners. He then challenged Waterman John (Tevin Foster) for the lead around the half-mile turn.
Coming off the final turn with the lead, Bernard De Quick went on to win effortlessly, ahead of Waterman and Here Comes Doc (Anthony Allen), clocking a time of 1:20.3 (24.3 x 48.2 x 1:13.1).
