KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Sunrise 6 took a major hammering after the running of the second of 11 races which saw the 1-5 favourite Sir Alton (Omar Walker) biting the dust – defeated by a determined Soul Cure (Anthony Thomas) at odds of 7-2.

Sir Alton missed the break when the starter let them go as Soul Cure took advantage by quickly taking the lead in a race with six starters with five coming from the barn of trainer Wayne DaCosta. The event was a Restricted Stakes for three-year-olds and upwards run over a distance of 5 ½ furlongs.

Foreign bred Sir Alton running green made up ground on Soul Cure and actually went by to take the lead but Thomas was calm on the Gary Subratie trainee, keeping his mount on the rails and just biding his time.

Sir Alton then went wide entering the straight and Soul Cure powered away to win by 1 ½ lengths in a time of 1:07.1.

Second went to Sir Alton who started to gain in the final furlong with Eagle One (Jerome Innis) third.

Soul Cure is owned by champion owner Michael Bernard.
