KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was a cosy start for punters as Avenging Angel (Phillip Parchment), the even-money favourite, got the Caymanas Monday (Sept 27) 11-race programme underway with a fighting victory.
Avenging Angel trained by Ian Parsard was successful in a three-year-old Restricted Maiden contest at six furlongs.
Parchment got Avenging Angel to vie for the early lead with Morse Code (Anthony Thomas) with the two moving way ahead of rivals.
Morse Code and Avenging Angel were stuck together for most of the trip until the former made a move rounding the final bend to enter the straight with a slight advantage. Parchment in his usual hard and pumping style brought Avenging Angel on the inside and the bay colt gathered momentum to take over and win for the first time.
The 44-1 chance The Trojan Warrior (Kiaman McGregor) came on strong to earn second with Morse Code third.
