KINGSTON, Jamaica – Atonement after five career starts relinquished the maiden tag in the 6 ½ furlong Caymanas second which was only open to three-year-old fillies.
Ridden by Reyan Lewis for champion trainer Anthony Nunes, Atonement by Northern Giant – Crafty Lady broke well and assumed the lead after 3 ½ furlongs were completed.
In the stretch drive, Atonement had to deal with a pesky Turnonthelight (Dick Cardenas) but she packed enough to draw away winning by 3 ½ lengths. Turnonthelight was second with Tequila Blue (Tevin Foster 4-1) third.
