KINGSTON, Jamaica – After her impressive victory in the Jamaica Cup, Horse of the Year Atomica has risen to the top of the 2023 earnings leaderboard.
With a 2023 racing record of five wins from six starts, Atomica's total earnings now amount to $6,346,650.
The four-year-old filly has surpassed two leading three-year-olds, Ability and Mamma Mia, who have benefited from prestigious Classic races.
Ability, boasting earnings of $6,029,250 and claiming second place on the list, has achieved three wins from seven starts, including a victory in the Jamaica Derby.
Mamma Mia ranks third with two Classic victories (1000 Guineas and Jamaica Oaks) and a total of $5,494,350 in stakes earned over her seven starts, which include three wins.
She's My Destiny, a five-year-old mare that sits among the top 10 earners, has won five of her nine starts with total earnings of $5,491,850.
In addition to these horses on the 2023 top earners list, two foreign contenders—Runaway Algo and I Am Fred—have also made an appearance.
Trainer Jason DaCosta currently boasts four horses within the top 10 list: Mamma Mia, She's My Destiny, Thalita, and I Am Fred.
