KINGSTON, Jamaica – Eroy, a US invader, after given a lot of heartaches to both his connections and punters in recent times, redeemed himself somewhat with a good win in the Caymanas Monday eighth.

The eighth race was an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upwards travelling nine furlongs and 25 yards.

Jockey Anthony Thomas was at his sublime best aboard Eroy trained by Richard Azan. Thomas was first out of the gates on Eroy and carried the rest to the backstretch troubled initially by Dejae’s Boy (Oneil Mullings) with Legality (Dane Nelson) close by.

Then with five furlongs to go Harry Train (Reyan Lewis) burst through with Legality following. At this stage of the contest Thomas was unperturbed on Eroy, watching closely in a controlled gallop behind the new leading group.

Then with three furlongs left, Thomas pushed through Eroy with  Nelson following on Legality.

Eroy with the ascendency at the top of the lane never relinquished that position despite Legality throwing everything at the foreigner.

Big Big Daddy, who was slowly out ran on to be a distant third.
