KINGSTON, Jamaica – Kiaman McGregor got the better of his colleague apprentice Reyan Lewis in a surging battle in the straight to win, Saturday’s (Jan 5) third race minutes ago at Caymanas Park.
McGregor on the Gary Subratie trained Uncle Vinnie watched as Lewis on Jacko Links went by with a furlong and a half to go in the one-mile City of Kingston Centenary Cup for $600,000 -$500,000 claimers run over mile.
Never giving up, McGregor kept on fighting and rallied Uncle Vinnie in the final quarter furlong to once again take the lead over Jacko Links at even money, winning in the end by three-parts of a length. Third went to Stir It Up (12-1).
The winning time for a mile was 1:40.0.
