KINGSTON, Jamaica – The sixth on the St Leger Race Day of Saturday, July 1, 2023, is a three-year-old non-winners of two for locally bred horses and also for three-year-old maiden foreigners.

The distance is 7 ½ furlongs, and 10 horses are entered, with no dominant force included in the 10. This event can go any way.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is provided below for readers.

1 – SECRET ADMIRAL is a chestnut colt (February 12) by Admiral Alex out Secret Cat, trained by Carl Anderson with Roger Hewitt aboard. Note, Secret Admiral races with the tongue tie off. Started with a bang, then has fallen down also with a bang. However, he will have a chance in this given the quality of his rivals.

2 – STRIKE SMART is a bay colt (February 16) by Wannabeaplayer out of Profile, trained by Phillip Elliott with Omar Walker in the saddle. Quickly learning how to deal with non-winners of two. Makes a significant step up in distance, with six furlongs being the longest he has ventured over before. Will need some more time.

3 – PRETTY CAROLINE is a bay filly (USA February 4) by Flintshire out of Caroline Victoria, trained by Patrick Lynch with Dane Dawkins aboard. Note, Princess Caroline races with the figure eight on. Started to show some semblance of progress, then was a major disappointment when last on the track seven days ago. Still, given the quality of the field, Princess Caroline cannot be left out of any reckoning.

4 – ANONYMOUS is a bay colt (April 15) by Lion Tamer out of Eighteen Karat, trained by Anthony Nunes with Matthew Bennett in the saddle. In and out in his eight starts to date. Yet, Anonymous has already demonstrated he can handle the distance and therefore must be considered.

5 – BURLAP is a bay colt (March 18) by Casual Trick out of Fedora, trained by Richard Azan with Dane Dawkins aboard. Note, Burlap races with the figure eight on. Can be said to be a disappointment to date. If Burlap enters this contest in the right frame of mind, then he has every opportunity of finding success.

6 – BLINKIN LIGHT is a bay colt (April 12) by Patton Proud out of Storm Girl, trained by Gary Griffiths with Anthony Allen in the saddle. Blinkin Light is fast becoming a five-straight expert. He has raced longer than five furlongs in his career, making 7 ½ furlongs problematic.

7 – I AM INTERESTED is a bay colt (April 18) by Wannabeaplayer out of Back At You, trained by Joseph Thomas with Raddesh Roman aboard. Enters non-winners of two for the first time, and will learn.

8 – LOYAL ACTION is a bay colt (February 22) by Western Warrior out of Fast Action, trained by Paul Swaby with Tevin Foster in the saddle. Will find it difficult to win this one.

9 – MODERN MIRACLE is a chestnut colt (January 2) by Hedge Fund out of Sound of Miracle, trained by Anthony Nunes with Matthew Bennet aboard. To win this one, Miracle Man has to show vast improvement.

10 – PIGGLIE WIGGLIE is a bay filly (April 2) by Conquest Cherimash out of Save More, trained by Patrick Fong with Sadiki Blake in the saddle. Finding it difficult in the non-winners of two grouping.
