KINGSTON, Jamaica - An interesting contest, a three-year-old maiden call for fillies only at 5 ½ furlongs is in the offing on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
Listed as the first of 11-races, the event finds its intrigue in the fact that of the nine horses entered, six are making their debut.
The Quick Galloper tries to unravel this contest for readers.
1 - ROMAN PRINCESS is a chestnut filly (April 1) by Soul Warrior out of Lovely Day, trained by Saqlain Roman with Everton Stone aboard. Made her debut eight days ago without rattling any feathers. Roman Princess has a long way to go.
2 - DESIGN DIVA is a bay filly (May 31) by Savoy Stomp out of Tashara, trained by Anthony Dixon with Paul Francis riding. Note, Design Diva races with the blinkers on. Has raced once (January 21), showing nothing of worth. Design Diva will gained from the experience.
3 - NERISSA’S ANGEL is a grey filly (February 20) by Midnight Hawk out of Amicable, trained by Alford Brown with Oshane Nugent holding the reins. This filly has been showing up in the mornings, with many onlookers believing she is ready to deliver first time out.
4 - HIT N RUN is a bay filly (May 9) by Sunshine N Shadow out of The Vibes Lady, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis riding. Enters her first race on the back of three - five furlong straight gallops, clocking 1:02.0 on February 10, and 1:02.1 on Feb 17. Hit N Run is poised to make a winning debut.
5 - LIL’ MAGGIE is a bay filly (May 5) by Legal Progress out of Maggie’s Way, trained by Donovan Thompson with Andree Powell in the saddle. Lil’ Maggie with catch on with time.
6 - SIPPIN ON SUNSHINE is a bay filly (April 24) by Sunshine N Shadow out Casual Drink, trained by Nicholas Wehby with Richard Henry aboard. This filly is the first official starter for trainer Nicholas Wehby. Sippin On Sunshine has had, three - five furlong gallops for her debut run. She is progressing well in the mornings, and is projected to be among those deciding this one.
7 - RACK DEM is a bay filly (April 23) by Midnight Hawk out of Cherokee Way, trained by Fernando Geddes with Ricardo Duhaney holding the reins. Will benefit from this her first run.
8 - KENCIA is a chestnut filly (April 29) by Sunshine N Shadow out of Hija De Reina, trained by Steven Todd with Tevin Foster in the saddle. Note, Kenecia races with the figure eight on. The most experienced of this lot with two starts, finishing third and second on those occasions. Kencia’s cannot be denied a real chance of getting off the mark.
9 - ANOTHER MISSION is a chestnut filly (March 23) by Bern Identity out of Moonlight Brew, trained by Oral Hayden with Rudolph Paige having a number two paper. This filly was nominated to begin her racing career on February 3, but was disqualified at the gates for the officially listed reason of being lame. Based on that fact, Another Mission is difficult to support in this one.
