KINGSTON, Jamaica – The three-year-old maiden event on Saturday, April 30, 2020, at four furlongs, is restricted to horses, who have not finished second or third in their racing careers. Thirteen of these horses are entered and it is interesting to note that of these 13, only two has finished fourth.
This scenario makes it difficult for THE QUICK GALLOPER to pick a winner, but here goes. The analysis of the 13 horses is done in post-position order.
MASTERCLASS is a bay gelding (March 22) by Casual Trick out of Awesome Destiny trained by Gary Subratie with Andre Powell in the saddle. The only thing of note about Masterclass is that he races with the blinkers off and the cheekpieces on.
PREMIER IDENTITY is a chestnut filly (April 5) by Bern Identity out of Twist and Turn trained by Howard Jaghai with Youville Pinnock in the saddle. Note, Premier Identity races with the blinkers on and the figure 8 off.
MAGGIE’S BOY is a dark bay colt (April 20) by Buzz Nightmare out of Maggie’s Way trained by Norman Smith with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. Maggie’s Boy in his four outings to date has finished fifth twice, which is one of the better performances among this grouping. Champion jockey Anthony Thomas has once again chosen to partner this colt. With little to go on in this race, Maggie’s Boy can win based on those fifth-place finishes. Note, Maggie’s Boy races with the visor off.
INFINITO is a bay filly (June 2) by Silent Valor out of Salino trained by Winchester McIntosh with Javaniel Patterson in the saddle. Infinito has raced ten times with his best finish being sixth. Based on his experience among these, Infinito is given a good chance of hitting the board.
SARGE IN CHARGE is a bay gelding (March 12) by Nasheet out of Aunt Hilda trained by Phillip Lee with Jordan Barrett in the saddle. Sarge In Charge has shown up in the early part of two of his outings but has nothing to show at the end. Note, Sarge In Charge races with the cheekpieces off.
LADY BEN is a bay filly (January 9) by Here Comes Ben out of Lady Maragin trained by Michael Marlowe with Tevin Foster in the saddle. Lady Ben has finished fifth in two of her seven trips to the starting gates, and as such, should hit the board.
RISKY BID is a bay filly (January 19) by Blue Pepsi Lodge out of Zensational trained by Ray Phillips with Dick Cardenas in the saddle. Risky Bid has race three times with her second effort, 3 ½ lengths sixth behind Josh and Degaulle drawing attention. She has been prominent in all her races and this is enough to give Risky Bid a chance of winning.
OOH SO LONG is a bay filly (May 27) by Force De Jour out of Oolong trained by Michael Marlowe with Ramon Nepare in the saddle. Cannot be recommended.
GREAT WAYNE is a bay colt (March 30) by Casual Trick out of Classy Aviator trained by Jason DaCosta with Omar Walker in the saddle. Great Wayne was declared a late non-starter (lame) when declared to race on April 18. He has been seen since at exercise giving the indication that he had overcome his issues. Note, Great Wayne races with blinkers, tongue tie, and figure 8 on.
SELECT ME is a dark bay filly (February 13) by Natural Selection out of Excellence trained by Patrick Lynch with Shavon Townsend in the saddle. Nothing to recommend this filly and therefore cannot be selected to even hit the board. Note, Select Me races with the blinkers off.
EDDIETWENTYNINE is a chestnut colt (March 12) by Northern Giant out of Goldstardancer trained by Gary Griffiths with Reyan Lewis in the saddle. Eddietwentynine has already finished fourth in one of his sixth races to date and that alone is sufficient for him to have a look in.
LEGAL BOMB is a chestnut colt (February 26) by Legal Process out of Fantasy trained by Patrick Lynch with Raddesh Roman. Legal Bomb contested the lead seven days ago going 7 ½ but then faded badly. Now at four furlongs, Legal Bomb should be with the contenders.
GIVEMETHELIGHT is a grey colt (March 9) by Nasheet out of Skipping Sue trained by Gary Griffiths with Roger Hewitt in the saddle. Note, Givemethelight races with the figure 8 on.
