KINGSTON, Jamaica – The second race on Jamaica Day (Saturday, November 11, 2023) features a two-year-old maiden contest spanning six furlongs.
Six young contenders are set to compete, with THE QUICK GALLOPER's analysis of the likely outcome detailed below in post-position order.
1 – ROSETTA, a roan filly (April 6) by Bold Conquest out of Khadiliah, is trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis aboard. She has placed in her two previous outings but isn't yet considered a winning contender. However, it's worth noting that Rosetta is the only entrant with experience racing six furlongs. Rosetta will also be using Lasix for the first time.
2 – WARRIOR STOMP, a bay colt (March 21) by Savoy Stomp out of Cup O Tea, is trained by Alfred Davidson with Roger Hewitt in the saddle. This will be Warrior Stomp's first foray into competitive racing, but early morning reports suggest he may not be ready just yet.
3 – FASTNFURIOUSLINKS, a grey filly (February 15) by Casual Trick out of Another Fury, is trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen aboard. She finished second on her debut (October 29), trailing stablemate Comehometome by 5¾ lengths. With a tongue tie and Lasix for the first time, she returns in good form but may only achieve another minor placement.
4 – MATUSO, a bay colt by Casual Trick out of Puddy Pooh (April 9), is trained by Richard Azan with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. As the first offspring of former Classic race winner Puddy Pooh to compete, Matuso has been reported to have good morning workouts, suggesting he's prepared for action.
5 – QUEEN OF SOUL, a chestnut filly (May 25) by Soul Warrior out of Aretha, is trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster holding the reins. She made a noteworthy debut on October 15, narrowly losing to the talented Run Julie Run at five furlongs round. Showcasing steady improvement since that race, she is the firm choice to claim victory. Queen of Soul will be racing on Lasix for the first time.
6 – HIMAYA, a roan filly (March 23) by Casual Trick out of Raksha, is trained by Jason DaCosta with Oneil Scott aboard.
