On Thursday 4th November, 2021 the Jamaica Racing Commission heard an appeal from Jockey Anthony Thomas against the Stewards’ decision handed down on Tuesday 28th September, 2021 to suspend him for two (2) race days and impose a fine of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). The Stewards had ruled that Jockey Thomas, while being aboard horse #8 Nakamura, in the first race on Saturday August 28, 2021, caused intimidation and interference to horse #4 Bigmanbiden leaving the 200-metre point of the race.

After reviewing the film of the race and hearing submissions made by Jockey Shane Ellis, Jockey Anthony Thomas’s representative, and the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Operations Steward, the Commission ruled that it saw no reason to overturn the decision of the Stewards, and therefore dismissed the appeal. They further ruled that the suspension will commence on Monday 15th November, 2021 and that the fine of $10,000.00 will remain in place.
