KINGSTON, Jamaica - Apprentice jockey Richard Henry continued to make impressive headway in the saddle, winning his eighth race of the season aboard High Diplomacy in an Optional Claiming race for three-year-olds and upwards ($400,000-$300,000), which also included six-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of four races).
High Diplomacy, owned and trained by Borris McIntosh, started in a mid-pack position during the 6-furlong event. Approaching the half-mile (800m) mark, High Diplomacy began his run along the inside rails but momentarily lost ground when Henry had to pull back to avoid traffic issues.
Regaining momentum on home stretch, High Diplomacy clung to the inside rails and sprinted ahead, finishing 6 ¼ lengths ahead of Bold Sami (Shavon Townsend) and Duke of Springs (Nicholas Hibbert). High Diplomacy completed the race in a time of 1:16.1 (23.4 x 48.3).
