The St Catherine Cup, an Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds competed for over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100 metres) is the feature race on the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park tomorrow (Saturday, January 12, 2019).
Here is a look at the chances of the seven starters.
ANOTHER VIGOROUS: (4.b.g – Legal Process – Miss Nickels) – Has made a dramatic change in recent times from an out and out sprinter to one who can sit and wait off the pace before moving effectively in the last two furlongs. The fact that Another Vigorous won at this level on Saturday, December 29, 2018 over seven furlongs speaks volumes of his development. The handicaps plus the distance suit Another Vigorous and is the choice in this one.
EXHILARATE: (4.ch.f - Blue Pepsi Lodge – Purejoy) – Comes into this one on the back of three straight wins. Exhilarate can only run one way and that is to go in front and if the others are not mindful, she will run away from them.
ANOTHER BULLET: (7.b.h – Nasheet – Wisely Noted) – Handicaps do not suit him but then again this is racing.
SECRET TRAVELLER: (5.b.g – Traditional – Sea Traveller) – Even after winning on last is going to find winning here very difficult.
CAMPESINO: (9.b.g – Compadre – Yaella) – Long-time campaigner who will have difficulties with the younger ones.
NUCLEAR FLIGHT: (4.dkb.f – Nuclear Wayne – City Flight) – Up and coming filly with a lot of class. Nuclear Flight has won most of her race over the straight course and we will wait to see how she does around the turn.
PRINCESS EMANUELLE: (6.ch.m – Traditional – Explosive Peak) – Took a while to win in Overnight and may need time to catch the pace of Open Allowance
