As the 2025 racing season unfolds, attention is fixated on the development of the three-year-olds especially for the Classic races on offer during the course of the year.

Burning Hedge currently leads the three-year-old division following a victory in the one-mile Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes in December 2024. Notably, Burning Hedge has yet to make an appearance in 2025.

One noteworthy contender among first-time starters is Another One, a bay colt trained by Anthony Nunes, sired by Aveenu Malicainu out of Chinitagoodaz. He made his competitive debut in the Mercury Sprint on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Under the guidance of jockey Shane Ellis, Another One delivered an impressive performance, establishing a promising future. He crossed the finish line 9 ½ lengths ahead in a maiden special weight race for native-bred three-year-old colts and geldings going five furlongs straight.

Another One clocked a speedy 59.0 seconds on a fast track, with splits of 23.4 and 46.1.

Alchemy of Souls, ridden by Jerome Innis, finished in second place, while Uncle Baba, with Javaniel Patterson aboard, secured third.

Trainer Nunes expressed satisfaction with Another One's debut performance but maintained a cautious outlook regarding future expectations.

“Yes, it was a good first effort by Another One. The prevailing conditions were just about right, meaning the track was fast, the breeze was behind him, and he was running against poor competition.

“When added together, those conditions allowed Another One to deliver beyond expectations,” Nunes stated in his post-race interview.

He further remarked, “For me as the trainer, it is a wait and see attitude with Another One.”

In terms of the race, from the moment the starter released the field, Another One took the lead, and thereafter, jockey Shane Ellis was virtually a passenger.
