Filly now has 4 wins from 14 starts
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The early promise shown by four-year-old grey filly Action Ann is finally finding expression.
Now trained by Patrick Lynch, Action Ann was a commanding winner of the Caymanas Saturday seventh, which was a four-year-old and upwards call for non-winners of four races at 7 ½ furlongs. In doing so, Action Ann, by Sensational Slam – Ladylike earned her fourth win from 14 career starts and her second in succession.
Eight horses went into the starting barriers, and when sent off, it was a mad scramble with Three Times Luck (Javaniel Patterson), T Brady (Paul Francis), Den Street (Anthony Thomas); and Bern Notice (Tevin Foster) all trying to take command of the event. At this stage, Youville Pinnock on Action Ann waited patiently on the inside rails but close enough behind those ahead.
Then with three and a half furlongs completed, Pinnock changed the race equation by spurting to the front, and it was only T Brady, who provided any semblance of a challenge.
Action Ann won by 5 ¼ lengths in a final time of 1:33.4, which has to be considered a fast clocking on a slow track. T Brady was second and Santorini (Dane Dawkins) third.
