Trainer Patrick Lynch saddled the first two finishers — Gone A Negril and Prosecco — in a native-bred five-year-olds and imported six-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of three) travelling 5½ furlongs (1,100m).
Gone A Negril broke behind the early pacesetters, with Matthew Bennett in the irons, watching as Tequila Blue (Tevin Foster) led the way ahead of Victoriasmedallion (Raddesh Roman) and Nakamura (Dane Dawkins).
Then Absolute Blue (Reyan Lewis) took over the race ahead of Tequila Blue as Gone A Negril began to round horses navigating the half-mile turn.
Turning for home, Gone A Negril produced a late effort and came with a strong run in the latter stages of the race to win by a length and a half over stablemate Prosecco (Anthony Thomas). Tequila Blue came in third place with a final time of 1:11.1 (24.0 x 48.3).
