KINGSTON, Jamaica - Having tasted defeat by the narrowest of margins the race before, jockey Tevin Foster rallied to take the Caymanas Sunday nightcap (ninth) on Alimony for champion trainer Anthony Nunes at odds of 9-5.
This win by Nunes with Alimony was an instant replay of what transpired yesterday (Saturday, November 20, 2021). Going into the last race yesterday, Nunes was winless on the day but Sparkle Diamond ensured that he had a visit to the winners’ enclosure. Second behind Sparkle Diamond was the Jason DaCosta trained I Am Fred. Today, going into the last race, Nunes was again winless but that changed with the win by Alimony, with Sudden Flight trained by DaCosta occupying the second slot.
In the today’s last, which was for three-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of two) going five furlongs round, Foster meticulously guided Alimony from the outside draw to be close enough to the leader, True Bravado (Robert Halledeen).
In the last two furlongs, Alimony found his best stride, winning by 1 ¾ lengths. Sudden Flight (Dick Cardenas) ran on from off the pace for second with True Bravado third.
