KINGSTON, Jamaica – After two horses (Bugatti and Dezzi) were declared late non-starters at the gates reducing the field of seven to five, and after first timer Princess Alani ditched her rider when the gates opened, victory in the Caymanas Saturday second went to Golden Wattle.

Ridden by Linton Steadman for champion trainer Anthony Nunes, Golden Wattle a chestnut filly by Lion Tamer – Golden Glory, tasted success first time out in a two-year-old maiden contest travelling four furlongs. This was the second two-year-old race of the season.

The 1-2 on favourite Phoenix Risen (Oneil Mullings) coming from the one draw and Golden Wattle on the outside vied for the early advantage with the latter able to set the fractions.

Golden Battle pushed further ahead of Phoenix Risen as the latter lost ground with Rupunzel (Tevin Foster) running on to take second with Phoenix Risen third. This was the second time Rupunzel was finished second.
