Actions Taken By Racing Commission Stewards

The Stewards announce the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission, 8 Winchester Road, Kingston 10, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

  • Jockey VICTOR SANCHEZ who rode the horse TRAVELLER’S LODGE in the second (2nd) race on Saturday, October 12, 2024 had his explanation accepted for intimidation and interference caused to horse AKA STORM in the vicinity of the 900 metre point.
  • His explanation was also accepted for the intimidation and interference caused to horse RANNY in the vicinity of the 600 metre point of the sixth (6th) race on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
  • Jockey SANCHEZ was suspended from riding for one (1) raceday for intimidation and interference caused to horse ROHAN KABIR in the vicinities of the 600 and 400 metre points and further fined Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) for intimidation and interference caused to horse WRIGHT IN FLIGHT in the vicinity of the 100 metre point of the first (1st) race on Saturday, October 19, 2024. This suspension will take effect on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
  • Jockey JAWANI FORBES who rode TAPIT GOOD in the second (2nd) race on Sunday, October 6, 2024 was fined Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) for excessive use of his whip.
  • Jockey OMAR WALKER who rode QUEEN OF SOUL in the ninth (9th) race on Saturday, September 28, 2024, was fined Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for the intimidation and interference caused to RICHES TO RAGS leaving the 400 metre point.
  • Trainer JASON DACOSTA was fined Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) for failure to present his horse TEFLON DON, on time for Lasix administration as the horse was scheduled to run in the seventh (7th) race on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

  1. How can the Stewards impose fines for being tardy, they have no respect for time when the races are to start. This is farcical.

    1. Obviously you're not up to date with what's happening at CP. They tried to to have the races run on time, even abandoned races for failure to do such but the Svrl along with the minister of finance override their actions.
