KINGSTON, Jamaica – The race day stewards in an official communication read by the track announcer said the main reason for the abandonment of the first of ten races on the Sunday (May 7, 2023) card, was to protect the horses (nine) declared to run in that first race.

“We had to take into consideration that Lasix was administered to several of the horses in the first race, and with Lasix having a prescribed time of use as per the rules of racing, it was best to protect the horses,” the stewards said in part.

Most bets on the first race were cancelled except for the Reggae 6, with punters refunded. The Reggae 6 will stand, with players of this exotic wager all given ALL in the first race going into the other five races.
