KINGSTON, Jamaica - Five-year-old grey gelding Bigmanbiden left it for late and just got up in time to win a five-year-old and upwards, and also for imported six-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of two) and imported five-year-olds and upwards (maidens) coming down the 5 straight course on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
Bigmanbiden (Jemar Jackson) broke off behind the leaders and watched as Stickydon (Roger Hewitt) led the small field of seven runners ahead of JB Flyer (Shavon Townsend) and Lion Talk (Oshane Nugent).
Coming across the dummy rails, Bigmanbiden slipped down into third place but was still off the lead as Stickydon continued to show the way ahead of Lion Talk.
Bigmanbiden started to move in the final furlong (200m) of the race, as Jackson produced his mount and the Byron Davis trainee found extra and got up in time to nip Stickydon on the wire.
Bigmanbiden won by a nose. Lion Talk finished third.
