KINGSTON, Jamaica - Seven-year-old chestnut horse Ali easily obliged as the favourite in a five-year-old and upwards Claiming ($180,000-$150,000) race that also included six-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of two) over 5½ furlongs (1,100m).

Owned by David Reid, trained by Nicholas Smith, and ridden by Javaniel Patterson, Ali by Soul Warrior out of Adina sat just behind pace at the break in fourth place, as Timetosayboodbye (Anthony Allen), Seadon (Milton Powell), and Sly Stalloon (Anthony Thomas) set the splits.

Ali made his move going into the half mile (800m) when he slipped down in second position behind Timetosaygoodbye. Ali then picked up the pace approaching the distance and upped the tempo in deep stretch, cruising home by 11½ lengths in a time of 1:11.1 (24.2 x 48.3).

Golden Emperor (Roger Hewitt) came from behind runners to get second place, ahead of Timetosaygoodbye in third place.
