Rockdale wins for trainer Errol Pottinger
KINGSTON, JAMAICA – In a scorching start to the 10-race card at Caymanas Park, Rockdale trained by Errol Pottinger and ridden by Andre Powell obliged at odds of 5-2.
Rockdale scored his fourth career victory from 54 starts in a five-year-old and upwards Claiming ($180,000 - $150,000) contest over a distance of 3 ½ furlongs.
The original field of 14 was reduced to 12 following the late scratch at the gates of Stormonthesea and Cruising Motion.
When the starter let them go, Rockdale was early with a bunch of other horses vying for the lead. When the horses reached the race track proper, Powell asked Rockdale to push on, and that the eight-year-old bay gelding did, winning by 1 ¼ lengths.
Freedom For Eds (Oshane Nugent) finished second with Abogado (Tevin Foster) occupying the third slot.
