KINGSTON, Jamaica - Oneofakind, the Anthony Nunes-conditioned four-year-old chestnut colt, takes a drop-in class to contest this year’s renewal of the Seymour “Foggy” Mullings Memorial Trophy. This should be his best chance of winning in six months - in a contest which is a three-year-old and upwards Overnight Allowance call going one mile (1,600m) on Saturday, December 18, 2021.

Bred by Fearless Vision out of the Royal Minister mare The Golden One, Oneofakind racked up four consecutive wins to start this season, carrying him to the top class as one of the highest - rated horses in training. However, his next four outings were below-par efforts, finishing off the board in three of those runs. Oneofakind’s less than normal efforts were a result of injury issues he faced which curtailed his progress.

Oneofakind seems to be rounding into form and has worked well for this, galloping six furlongs in 1:14.1. Although Oneofakind was beaten by Billy Whizz in the Jamaica Cup and with little shift in the handicaps between the two, he will have to give of his best to win this trophy race.

Billy Whizz and Best Daughter Ever have high hopes of taking home this trophy.

Billy Whizz defeated Santorini by 2 ¼ lengths over seven furlongs in 1:26.1 just two weeks ago and for sure Billy Whizz has the class and talent to win here, and with apprentice Matthew Bennett who claims three kilogrammes, in the saddle, could well repeat. Billy Whizz is probably the most improved of the three-year-old cohort at this stage in the 2021 racing year. In the Jamaica Cup, Billy Whizz stepped up to Graded Stakes company as a non-winner of four races, and ran his heart out, getting nipped on the line in the final stride by Further and Beyond, so racing in Overnight for the first time will certainly not be a hindrance.

Best Daughter Ever has raced three times this season, holding two wins and a second-place finish. Her second came in the St Elizabeth Distaff behind impressive winner Make Up Artist over one mile on November 13. She will report just as fit for this and could resume winning ways.

The others in this event can be left out of the reckoning.
