KINGSTON, Jamaica - Newly licensed trainer Peter-John Parsard celebrated his first professional victory with Geolithic on Sunday, August 20, 2023. He dedicated his accomplishment to his late grandfather and former conditioner Harry Parsard.

Geolithic triumphed in a native-bred three-year-old category (non-winners of two) and an imported three-year-old and upward class (maidens) at a mile.

The three-year-old American-bred bay filly, Geolithic (Neolithic – Queen G), led from the start and pulled away from the competition down the backstretch to secure a comfortable win by an impressive 15 ½ lengths.

"I feel elated about this win," said Parsard. "I have to dedicate it to my grandfather Harry Parsard. I worked as his assistant before he passed away a couple of years ago. I truly miss him, so this victory is definitely for him."

"I've dreamt of this day since I first visited the racetrack. I've been around great horses and am thrilled to finally claim a win under my name. I've grown up in the sport, fallen in love with horses from the moment I laid eyes on them, and have dedicated my life to being around them," added Parsard, son of trainer Ian.

With leading jockey Reyan Lewis aboard, Geolithic made a strong start and fought for the early lead with Blinkin Light (Shane Richardson). She took complete control leaving the six-furlong marker (1,200m) and never looked back. Geolithic outpaced Norblar (Dane Dawkins) and From Sheer To Ben as they struggled to keep up around the half-mile turn.

Entering the homestretch with a commanding lead, Geolithic shed her maiden tag ahead of Norblar and From Sheer To Ben. The race concluded with a winning time of 1:40.2 and split times of 23.4 x 46.4 x 1:13.1.

Parsard praised Geolithic's readiness, stating, "She was well-prepared for the race after being quite green in her first two starts. Given the lack of speed among competitors, I believe Jason [Reyan Lewis] executed a brilliant strategy."

"I advised him to be cautious with taking the lead too quickly, but he rode an excellent race. He adjusted to the situation, and Geolithic performed exceptionally well under his guidance. I couldn't be happier."
