KINGSTON, Jamaica - The tenth race on Saturday, October 19, 2024, honours the memory of former trainer Errol ‘Big Sub’ Subratie. The event is for horses at the Overnight Allowance level, with 15 horses entered to compete.
The Quick Galloper’s analysis is provided below in draw order.
1 - MR SENATOR has done well to finally reach the Overnight Allowance grade. Mr Senator has a long way to go against these.
2 - CROWN CHASER races for the first occasion since winning the Jamaica Derby on August 6. This event is warm up for Crown Chaser for possible participation in the longer Jamaica Cup and the Mouttet Mile. There is no doubt that Crown Chaser has class and is at the point of rapid development but now he races against older horses for the first time which will limit his chances of success. The performance of Crown Chaser will be watched closer as Crown Chaser performs better at two turns.
3 - SONNY T AND CHIPPY has gone completely off the boil.
4 - UNBELIEVABLE FORCEenters Overnight Allowance on the back of two consecutive wins. She usually leads in her races, with that possibility highly unlikely on Saturday. This foreigner will have to wait.
5 - BERN NOTICE can be safely taken out of winning consideration.
6 - MONEY MISER is known for his run-on qualities and will benefit significantly from the anticipated speed rush in this contest. Money Miser is at the top of his form at the moment plus the distance is right if given a clear passage will be coming at them in the straight.
7 - SPIRIT OF LIGHTonly adventure on local soil was underwhelming, finishing way behind winner D Head Cornerstone. No improvement is anticipated. Note that Spirit of Light races with the tongue tie off and first time Lasix.
8 - RUN JULIE RUN makes a quick return after winning at the non-four level just 14 days ago. Meets old nemesis Crown Chaser after their exhilarating performances in the Derby. Now, Run Julie Run takes on rivals at the Open Allowance level after winning through her conditions. If Run Julie Run is to compete effectively in the Jamaica Cup and possibly the Mouttet Mile then victory here is crucial.
9 - EAZY PEAZY simply cannot manage these at this time as he is just entering Overnight Allowance.
10 - BABYLIKE is still trying to come to grips with this class.
11 - MONEY MONSTER is a longtime competitor in Overnight, showing a fairly consistent track record. A place on the board would not surprise.
12 - I REALISE is obviously corralled by health issues. Has shown talent and grit in the past. He returned from a long break on September 29, and could not deliver as in days gone by. Needs more time to find himself. Note that I Realise races with the figure eight on.
13 - RAINSVILLE is going to find it difficult to manage these rivals.
14 - POSITIVE ID has not been in form for a long while. That trend is going to continue on Saturday.
15 - SHEER DELIGHT is of the foreigners slated to compete in the Mouttet Mile. Sheer Delight has caught the eyes of morning watchers, who are reporting that this three-year-old is of some worth. As such a brave bid is anticipated.
