KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was a masterful display of intelligent and controlled riding by six-champion Omar Walker on board Fresh Cash in the second race at Caymanas Park.
Trained by Robert Pearson, Fresh Cash, racing in a four-year-old and upwards – non-winners of three offering travelling nine furlongs and 25 yards, was kept on the inside rails by Walker for the entire trip as El Gringo (Javaniel Patterson) set off in the lead.
At this stage the 1-5 favourite Alhamdulillah (Chris Mamdeen) occupied the fourth spot close to the leaders.
Walker made a telling move with three furlongs to go as did Alhamdulillah. It was then a battle between the two in the straight but the mastery of Walker prevailed by a length.
Third way behind was Purple Wayne (Dane Nelson). The winning time was a smart 1:58.3.
