The 2026 edition of the St Elizabeth Distaff provided the talented foreign-bred filly Supernatural Power with an expectedly straightforward and commanding victory.

Contested as a high-stakes Grade III event, this prestigious race brings together top-tier fillies and mares over a demanding one-mile journey at the Overnight Allowance level.

With seven exceptional competitors officially nominated to face the starter, The Quick Galloper presents a comprehensive analysis of the contest, detailing how each runner fared from gate to wire in finishing order.

FIRST – SUPERNATURAL POWER

Making a triumphant return to competitive action following an extended 114-day layoff, the brilliant four-year-old grey filly Supernatural Power proved she has lost none of her class. Conditioned by trainer Adrian Prince and expertly piloted by Demar Williams, she settled comfortably just off the early pace. Williams bided his time with supreme confidence, waiting for the right moment before pushing the button rounding the home turn. That decisive mid-race surge effectively ended the contest, leaving the remaining six rivals struggling in her wake as she drew clear to score by an emphatic seven lengths. She completed the one-mile journey in a final clocking of 1:38.3, though this performance was notably slower than her sharp 1:35.3 clocking achieved back on April 25. Beyond the win itself, the paramount concern for her connections centres on the updated points system and whether it will be sufficient to secure a coveted starting berth in the prestigious Mouttet Mile, slated for the first Saturday in December. With six guaranteed slots allocated for new foreign contenders, alongside three automatic gates already secured by 'Win and Your In' victors Rideallday, Phenomenal Power, and London Spirit, approximately seven berths are left available for locally campaigned horses. Sitting at #15 on the latest points list published by the promoting company with 95 accumulated points, Supernatural Power faces a possible qualification battle should all higher-ranked rivals accept their engagements. Alternatively, her connections could pivot toward the 6.5-furlong Bruceontheloose Trophy as a viable secondary target.

SECOND – MAIN MISTRESS

Main Mistress turned in an encouraging performance to secure the runner-up spot, signalling that a return to top form is near. Having made six starts throughout the 2026 season without visiting the winner's circle, the durable mare, who memorably captured this very event in dominant fashion last year, showed admirable grit. While she ultimately finished a considerable distance adrift of the runaway winner, this resolute runner-up effort provides strong optimism that her persistent conditioning will soon translate into a well-earned trip back to the winners' enclosure.

THIRD – DREAM CATCHER

Hailed widely as the undisputed queen of the current three-year-old crop, Dream Catcher stepped up to face seasoned older rivals in her highly anticipated debut at the Overnight Allowance level. Although she crossed the finish line more than ten lengths behind the dominant winner, her baptism of fire against senior opposition yielded valuable lessons and positive takeaways for future assignments. True to her established racing profile, Dream Catcher was unable to match the early fractions set by the speed horses, but her trademark late kick lacked its usual venom and acceleration when she needed it most down the stretch.

FOURTH – MISS GROVE

Miss Grove struggled to find her footing in this competitive company and was never able to present herself as a significant factor or dynamic threat at any stage of the running.

FIFTH – LINGUIST

Much higher expectations surrounded Linguist coming into the race, particularly after she showed early gate speed and raced prominently in the opening stages. However, she failed to sustain that initial momentum and quickly backed out of contention when the pressure mounted. Despite this disappointing setback, her underlying talent ensures she will remain a competitive force to be reckoned with in future Overnight Allowance battles.

SIXTH – STARRAURA

Starraura failed to make any impact whatsoever throughout the contest.

SEVENTH – MISS MONEYPENNY

Miss MoneyPenny executed her tactical assignment precisely as expected, putting early pressure on the front-running leaders to soften them up. However, as a dedicated and pure sprinter by trade, her stamina limitations were fully exposed over the demanding true mile trip, rendering her ineffective in the closing stages.
