Apprentice jockey Jaheim Anderson continued his breakout season on Saturday, October 10, 2026, landing a double aboard Woodburn Hills and Golden Lawyer.
This latest success follows A week prior on October 3, when Anderson became one of the few riders in the current batch of apprentices to log a three-winner raceday. His winners during that standout performance included Life Is Life, Hit N Run, and Linguist.
With this surge in momentum, Anderson has firmly established himself in the upper echelon of local racing. He currently holds the number six spot in the top ten jockey standings, boasting an impressive record of 31 wins, 30 second-place finishes, and 21 third-place finishes.
In a show of patience, Anderson guided the Phillip Lee-trained Golden Lawyer to victory in the 6 ½ furlong contest, tailored for five-year-olds and up non-winners of three lifetime. He bided his time in the early stages, tracking comfortably behind the blistering pace set by front-runners Shelly the Rocket (Evertte Clunis) and Don’t Tell Lou Lou (Raddesh Roman). As the field approached the turn, Anderson decided enough was enough and unleashed his mount, aggressively launching a bid for the lead. Golden Lawyer cornered beautifully into the home straight with the advantage, shifting gears to comfortably draw away by 2 lengths at the wire. The winner stopped the clock in 1:24.0 seconds, navigating steady split fractions of 24.3, 48.4, and 1:16.2.
Anderson utilized a strikingly similar tactical approach in the next race to secure a win aboard Woodburn Hills, conditioned by trainer Patrick Lynch. Competing in a three-year-old maiden call for fillies, Anderson settled Woodburn Hills into fifth position, letting rivals Little Truthful and Stina dictate the early running.
The decisive move came just after leaving the three-furlong marker, where Woodburn Hills swept past the leaders to take over and cruise home to an effortless 4 ½-length victory. Behave (Shaheem Gordon) stayed on for second, while Run Fun Run filled the trifecta spot.
