KINGSTON, Jamaica — A maximum field of 16 runners will assemble at the starting gates for this year’s running of the Nigel B Nunes Memorial Cup, an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over the five-furlong straight course.
With a dense field spanning the entire width of the track, draw positions, recent form, and fitness following long layoffs will prove decisive.
Here is a breakdown of the competitors ahead of the feature dash.
1 - LOCKDOWN
Enters Overnight Allowance for the first time following a victory on September 19. While in form, drawing the extreme inside post in a 16-horse field on the straight course presents a significant tactical disadvantage.
2 - HAIL THE QUEEN
Arrives on the back of two consecutive victories. She possesses genuine early speed, but post position two will make it difficult to secure a clean passage down the straight.
3 - TEFLON DON
Has struggled for form in recent starts and faces a tough task against this group.
4 - WICKED CASSIE (USA)
Has found competition tough at this level for an extended period. Race equipment changes removing both the blinkers and figure-eight bridle, are unlikely to alter her current trajectory.
5 - COMMANDER Z (USA)
A proven runner over the straight course. He finished fourth on September 12, behind Pepper Stepper and Of A Revolution. With those two rivals absent, he stands a strong chance of securing his fifth career victory.
6 - MONEY MARKET
Returns to action following a 161-day absence, having last raced on May 2 when fourth behind Legacy Isle over this distance. Morning exercise reports indicate progress during the layoff, and the absence of high-calibre opposition enhances his prospect of a winning return.
7 - JOHNCROWJEFF
An aging campaigner who now appears better suited for high claiming company.
8 - MISS MONEYPENNY
Maintains a consistent record at this level and remains a candidate for minor exotic placings.
9 - STARRAURA
Has found the step up to Overnight Allowance challenging since May. However, she retains sufficient natural speed to cause problems if allowed to dictate terms on the lead.
10 - HONOUR PRINCE
Returns following an 111-day layoff since May 30. He faces a tough fitness test and will likely rely on a late closing run from the middle of the track to secure a portion of the purse.
11 - FORMALIST
A straight-course specialist with three of his four career victories recorded over this specific track and distance. Well-positioned in post 11, he is expected to press the early pace. The main query will be whether he can sustain his effort to the finish.
12 - DANKA
Has generally found Overnight Allowance difficult, though an improved fourth-place finish on September 20, 2½ lengths behind Hail The Queen, indicates potential for a minor spot.
13 - GET A PEPSI
Has established credentials at this level but must overcome a 161-day absence from competitive racing.
14 - PRINCESS FIANIE
Has done well to reach this class level, but current form leaves her with limited winning prospects in this line-up.
15 - MACK AND ROME
Displays a clear affinity for the five-furlong straight, highlighted by a time of 57.4 seconds on February 7. Merits consideration based on course history.
16 - BULLETPROOFCOFFEE (USA)
Benefits from the favourable outside post position. A regular competitor at this level whose most recent victory came down the chute on September 6, 2025. Remains a factor in this contest.
