The ninth race on Saturday, October 3, 2026, engages in the ‘pink’ theme for the month with the running of the Pinktober Trophy. The Pinktober Trophy features three-year-old and up horses at the Open Allowance level competing over a distance of 6 ½ furlongs.
Seven horses have been nominated to compete, with The Quick Galloper’s full analysis published below.
1 – PEPPER STEPPER (USA)
Seeking his fifth victory from just eight career starts, Pepper Stepper steps up to the Open Allowance level for the very first time. Known primarily for his blistering early speed, this imported runner has yet to race beyond 5 ½ furlongs and has previously shown a tendency to weaken in the final strides of his races. Navigating the 6 ½-furlong trip will serve as the ultimate test of his stamina.
2 – BLUE VINYL
Failed to make an impact in his last appearance in the Diamond Mile on July 25. Lacking natural early speed, Blue Vinyl’s most effective strategy will be to settle within striking distance of the pacesetters and launch a late challenge, particularly if the front-runners begin to tire in the closing stages.
3 – MAIN MISTRESS (USA)
Faces a steep task at this level and will likely find it difficult to land a blow against these rivals.
4 – BOSS MAN
Currently stands as one of the most improved locally bred horses in training. He demonstrated his rising class on July 25 with an impressive time of 1:16.2 over this same 6 ½-furlong distance. A highly versatile contender, Boss Man has the tactical ability to set the pace if needed or track the leaders closely before making a decisive winning move.
5 – RAINSVILLE
Despite advancing in age, Rainsville appears to be enjoying a late-career resurgence. He has been in superb form of late over sprint distances, claiming victory over the five-furlong straight course before finishing a close second to Dothraki at 5 ½ furlongs. On September 19, he finished just a length behind Desert of Malibu over five furlongs round before being awarded the race in the stewards’ room. The move to 6 ½ furlongs should suit him remarkably well.
6 – SUPREMASI
Has proven to be a durable and consistent campaigner throughout his 29-race career. While he routinely excels in Overnight Allowance company, he often finds the step up to Open Allowance more demanding. Nevertheless, his reliability means he cannot be written off.
7 – WAR TO REMEMBER
Makes his local racing debut following a series of eye-catching exercise gallops in the mornings. He brings plenty of potential into the line-up and is expected to give a solid account of himself first time out.
