The Stewards announce the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission, Units 15-17 Big Buy Plaza, Portmore, St. Catherine, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Jockey ROBERT HALLEDEEN who rode STAR QUEST in the first (1st) race on Saturday, September 12, 2026, was fined Seven Thousand Dollars ($7,000.00) for excessive use of the whip during the running of the race, he was further admonished to correct this action by the stewards to avoid further escalations in the penalties.
Trainer Jason DaCosta who was summoned regarding saddling PEPPER STEPPER outside of the designated saddling enclosure for the tenth (10th) race on Saturday, September 12, 2026, had his explanation accepted. Mr DaCosta explained that the horse was fractious and posed a danger to himself and his assistant and sought the use of another area to saddle the horse, he was not aware that permission was required prior and apologised for his actions.
