History was made at Doncaster today in the 250th Betfred St Leger Stakes (Group 1), as Saffie Osborne became the first female jockey to ride a British Classic winner.

Trainer Joseph O'Brien completed a 1–2 finish in the final classic of the English flat racing season.

  • 1st: Highwayman (11/1) – Jockey: Saffie Osborne | Trainer: Joseph O'Brien
  • 2nd: Enceladus – Jockey: Dylan Browne McMonagle | Trainer: Joseph O'Brien
  • 3rd: Amelia Earhart – Jockey: Tom Marquand | Trainer: Aidan O'Brien

The pre-race favourite and Epsom Derby winner, Christmas Day, disappointed in his bid to land the classic double.
