On the 2026 Philip Feanny Gold Cup raceday, the day’s ninth event is named in honour of three-time winner of this prestigious race, Kilowatt.

The Kilowatt Trophy is an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward horse at 7 furlongs.

The Quick Galloper analyses the eight horses entered in this event, shared below for the benefit of readers on this website.

1 - MAIN MISTRESS (USA)

Currently mired in a poor run of form after finishing off the board in her last five outings, Main Mistress remains a proven entity with five wins from 16 career starts, including victories at this level. If she hits her top stride, the seven-furlong trip plays directly into her hands. Coming off a 42-day refresh, her recent sharp exercise spins suggest she is primed to bounce back strong.

2 – CALIFORNIA GOLD

Has struggled significantly to make an impact since stepping up to Overnight Allowance. Facing a competitive group here, that downward trajectory looks set to continue.

3 - UNSPUN (USA)

The former juvenile champion has largely failed to live up to early expectations as a three- and four-year-old. Still searching for his first visit to the winner's enclosure after seven attempts in 2026, he lacks the recent form to mount a serious challenge in this spot.

4 - MISS GROVE (CAN)

Proved her effectiveness over this distance on June 28 with a winning effort of 1:25.3. After a sluggish start to her career, she has rallied impressively to earn her spot in Overnight Allowance. Given her preference for coming off the pace, the expected early speed battle should setup the race perfectly for her late stretch charge.

5 - ATLANTIC CONVOY (CAN)

Finished 4th, beaten 7 ½ lengths by Mojito over six furlongs on August 30. The stretch-out to seven furlongs appears ideal for his running style. Expect a much-improved performance that puts him right in the thick of things at the wire.

6 - IMPRESSIVE FORCE (USA)

Crossed the line 5th, 9 ½ lengths behind Mojito over six furlongs just six days ago, but scored over this distance in Overnight Allowance on August 12. Racing with the figure-8 added today, he holds a strong claim to secure his fifth victory from 13 starts.

7 - DANKA

Simply lacks the required class at this level and is likely to be outmatched early.

8 - ROYAL POPPY (USA)

Finished a distant 10th behind Supremasi over 7 ½ furlongs on August 6, but that effort sits in contrast to her solid fourth-place run behind Phenomenal Power in the Diamond Mile on July 25. Throwing out that last race, she possesses the class needed to land her breakthrough victory on local soil.

This renewal of the Kilowatt Trophy presents a compelling tactical contest where pace will dictate everything. With dynamic early speed anticipated, Miss Grove (CAN) holds the trump card if the front-runners fold early, allowing her late-closing speed to take charge. However, Royal Poppy (USA) has to be considered while a refreshed Main Mistress (USA) and the trip-suited Atlantic Convoy (CAN) and Impressive Power round out the primary contenders
