Godolphin’s reigning Horse of the Year, Sovereignty, emphatically answered any lingering questions about his 2026 campaign, sweeping past a relentless pacing field to secure a dominant 4¾-length victory in the 99th running of the $1 million Grade 1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
Guided by Junior Alvarado for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, the 4-year-old son of Into Mischief stopped the clock in a sharp 1:47.91 for the $1\frac{1}{8}$-mile trip over a fast main track. The triumph earned Sovereignty an automatic, fees-paid berth into the Breeders' Cup Classic.
