Jockey Dane Nelson added another top-notch winner to his already storied career in Canada when he piloted Western Warrior to victory in the 2026 Manitoba Derby at the Assiniboia Downs racetrack a short while ago (Monday, August 3, 2026).
The Dane "The Warrior Chief' Nelson had to use all of strength to get Western Warrior across the line in the nine-furlong event, in a driving finish.
The Manitoba Derby carries a purse of CAN$125,000. Nelson was visiting Assiniboia from his main track, Century Mile.
