The final programme for August 6, 2026, which includes the Blue Riband Jamaica Derby has been officially posted.
The Derby is listed as the ninth of ten races.
Based on this final programme, it is now confirmed that the winner of the Jamaica Oaks just three days ago on August 1, the Jason DaCosta trained, Dream Catcher will start in the Derby. She will be the only filly that will face the starter in the 12-furlong event.
In a departure from the regular, Dream Catcher, whose regular rider is Tevin Foster, will be partnered by apprentice Shaheem Gordon. Although Gordon is a claiming apprentice, no claims are allowed in the Classic races, meaning that Dream Catcher will carry 121lbs, as fillies are a allowed a five-pound sex allowance.
