All the preparation races are now behind us, and horses along with their connections have entered the final phase of readiness for the first two Classic races of the 2026 season. These prestigious contests, reserved for three-year-olds, will unfold at Caymanas Park over one weekend.
On Saturday, June 6, the spotlight falls on the 1000 Guineas, a mile-long test reserved exclusively for fillies. The following day, Sunday, June 7, attention shifts to the 2000 Guineas, where colts and geldings will vie for supremacy over the same eight-furlong distance.
The Quick Galloper has convened its cadre of odds-makers to frame the early betting lines for the 2000 Guineas.
The We Jammin Question
The 2000 Guineas is proving difficult to assess, with uncertainty surrounding the participation of last year’s champion juvenile, We Jammin. Word circulating at the racetrack suggests the Peter-John Parsard-trained colt will not face the starter, though no official confirmation has been issued. The odds-makers are unequivocal: if We Jammin does run, he will be installed as the 8-5 favourite despite a subdued effort in The Kingston, the reasons for which remain unclear. For now, however, the betting lines proceed on the assumption that We Jammin will be absent, a scenario that leaves the Guineas wide open.
Stardom Steps Forward
Winner of the 7 ½-furlong Portmore Stakes, Stardom has stepped into the limelight. His late-running style, surging inside the final two furlongs, is ideally suited to the Guineas’ extra half-furlong. Odds-makers have installed him as the leading contender at 5-2.
Salute The Don & God’s Plan
Trainer Gary Subratie saddled the first, second and third finishers in The Kingston: Salute The Don (second) and God’s Plan (third).
Salute The Don, a front-running type, was caught late by Stardom. The extra distance may test his stamina, and he is priced at 9-2.
God’s Plan held third in The Kingston but faces similar stamina questions over a mile. He is listed at 10-1.
Senor Biscotti & Fernando
Senor Biscotti finished fourth in The Kingston, closing steadily to be five lengths adrift of Stardom. His running style suggests improvement over the longer trip, and he is quoted at 8-1. Fernando, fifth in The Kingston, is considered an outsider at 12-1.
Strong Aveenu Rising
Adding intrigue to the Guineas picture is Strong Aveenu, who bypassed The Kingston but has surged into contention with back-to-back victories. His momentum and mile-suited style have earned him odds of 7-1.
