Six runners line up for the Seeking My Dream Trophy, contested over 7 ½ furlongs at the Grade One | Open Allowance level.
This annual feature honours the outstanding thoroughbred Seeking My Dream, winner of the Jamaica Derby and twice victor of the Diamond Mile.
The draw order preview is offered below.
1 – FUNCAANDUN (USA)
Carrying top weight, the former Horse of the Year faces a stern test. His proven ability to stalk a strong pace and strike late is an asset, but the burden on his back demands precision. If he times his run right, his class ensures he will be a major player in the stretch.
2 – IS THAT A FACT (USA)
Fresh from a win just six days ago at nine furlongs in Overnight Allowance company, he now steps up against elite rivals. Even with light weight and a three-kilogram apprentice claim, the challenge looks steep. He may struggle to match strides with the top pair.
3 – NEO STAR
Showed grit on April 26 when leading most of the way before finishing third behind Barnaby and Girvano at nine furlongs. Neo Star’s role may be to soften the field for his stablemate Barnaby.
4 – GIRVANO (USA)
Consistent but searching for a breakthrough. Twice beaten by Barnaby in recent starts over longer trips, Girvano tends to lag early before running on late. Notably, he did finish ahead of Barnaby at this exact 7 ½ furlong trip in February. Needs his absolute best to turn the tables here.
5 – CALIFORNIA CROWN
A pure sprinter, his presence ensures a genuine pace. Though unlikely to last the full distance against these, his speed could shape the race for closers.
6 – BARNABY (USA)
Dominant winner at nine furlongs and 25 yards on April 26, brushing aside Girvano and Neo Star. That effort marked a clear step forward. Receiving nine pounds from Funcaandun, Barnaby’s powerful late burst makes him the one to fear in the final two furlongs.
