The fourth event on Saturday’s race card, May 9, 2026, is reserved for foreign-bred three-year-old maidens. These youngsters will face a testing trip of 5 ½ furlongs.
The Quick Galloper takes a closer look at the six nominated runners, listed in post-position order.
1 – IAM WHO IAM (USA)
Three-year-old bay colt (February 28) by Cloud Computing out of Dellarosa
Trainer – Philip Feanny
Jockey – Raddesh Roman
Equipment – Visor on
Debuted with promise, though ran green and swerved in the final two furlongs, losing narrowly by a head to fellow US-bred Forever Five. The switch to champion rider Roman should help iron out those issues. Working well in the mornings and looks poised to break through.
2 – SUPER SPUN (USA)
Three-year-old brown colt (March 21) by Silver State out of Souper Sugar Shack
Trainer – Lincoln Lungs
Jockey – Evertte Clunis
Equipment – Blinkers on
Has shown little in his outings so far, with no indication that a winning effort is on the horizon.
3 – PEPPER STEPPER (USA)
Three-year-old bay colt (February 2) by Tunwoo out of Ribbing
Trainer – Jason DaCosta
Jockey – Robert Halledeen
Equipment – Figure 8 on
Blasted out of the gates on debut last December but faded badly. Returns after a lengthy break and has looked sharp in morning drills. Appears to be a natural speedster and could well be the one they’ll all have to catch.
4 – UNBELIEVABLE FORCE (USA)
Three-year-old chestnut filly (April 6) by Accelerate out of Fastest Spin Trainer – Philip Feanny
Jockey – Ian Spence
Closed strongly from far back on April 18, finishing just a length behind Forever Fire and Iam Who Iam. With a hot pace expected up front, her late-running style should be a major asset.
5 – BRODY’S UNITY (USA)
Three-year-old bay colt (February 15) by Brody’s Cause out of Bagatelle Park
Trainer – Lincoln Lungs
Jockey – Tajay Suckoo
Equipment – Blinkers on
Has disappointed in four prior starts and offers little to suggest improvement is imminent.
6 – COMMUNA TRECE (USA)
Three-year-old bay colt (May 28) by Maximum Security out of My Anguilla Trainer – Oral Hayden
Jockey – Anthony Thomas
Equipment – Tongue tie, cheek pieces on
A seasoned campaigner with 12 starts under his belt. Consistent enough, but lacks the class to trouble this field at present.
