The second of the major prep races leading into the prestigious Classic series, the Sir Howard Stakes, reserved exclusively for colts and geldings, is set to be contested on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

This six-furlong sprint has attracted ten promising entrants, each looking to stamp their authority early in the season.

The Quick Galloper provides a detailed breakdown of the field, presented in post-position order.

1 – FIDELITY

Bay gelding (March 28) by Bern Identity out of Hush My Darling

Trainer – Jason DaCosta

Jockey – Tevin Foster

Note – Fidelity races with blinkers and tongue tie on

Fidelity remains somewhat of an unknown quantity. He was withdrawn at the gates when last nominated to race on February 28, leaving questions about his readiness. With the addition of blinkers and a tongue tie, connections are hoping for a sharper and more focused performance. While not a leading contender, Fidelity could surprise and is worth consideration as an outsider’s bet.

2 – DASHALLDAY

Bay colt (March 16) by Aveenu Malcainu out of Runallday

Trainer – Anthony Nunes

Jockey – Raddesh Roman

Dashallday began his career with a determined victory on January 10 over five furlongs round. In his next start, against foreign competition at 5 ½ furlongs, he showed speed by leading for much of the race before tiring late. That effort highlighted his natural pace, especially over shorter trips. Now competing against his peers at level weights in the Sir Howard, Dashallday is the one rivals must catch.

3 – UNCLE NALLY

Bay colt (May 27) by Successful Native out of Kit De Luca

Trainer – Robert Pearson

Jockey – Reyan Lewis

Uncle Nally is one of the more seasoned runners in this field, with five starts under his belt. In his most recent outing on February 28, he set the pace but weakened inside the final furlongs. His early speed ensures he will influence the tempo of this race, and the shorter distance should aid his chances of staying on for victory.

4 – MOHANLAL

Bay colt (April 7) by Casual Trick out of Raise Your Voice

Trainer – Richard Azan

Jockey – Demar Williams

Note – Mohanlal races with first-time Lasix

Mohanlal was last seen finishing fifth behind Fernando over six furlongs, closing well in the latter stages. He has already proven capable at that distance, and with the addition of first-time Lasix, he poses a genuine threat to the field. Mohanlal is a live contender and must be respected.

5 – SO LUCKY AM I

Bay colt (May 8) by Successful Native out of Ashtrid

Trainer – Ian Roberts

Jockey – Bebeto Harvey

Note – So Lucky Am I races with tongue tie and first-time Lasix

So Lucky Am I made a winning debut over the five-furlong straight chute. While his lack of experience is a factor, he has shown promise and now seeks to make it two wins in succession. The equipment changes may help him settle and deliver another strong performance.

6 – SALUTE THE DON

Chestnut colt (March 19) by Aveenu Malcainu out of Abicadabby

Trainer – Gary Subratie

Jockey – Dane Dawkins

Salute The Don returns for his seasonal debut after finishing second in the prestigious Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes over one mile on Boxing Day 2025. He raced prominently throughout before fading close home. That effort against top juvenile company suggests he has the class to win here, and his preparation points to a strong showing.

7 – DARWIN

Bay colt (February 27) by Casual Trick out of Cape

Trainer – Richard Azan

 Jockey – Tajay Suckoo

Note – Darwin races with tongue tie off

Darwin finished well down the field in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes last December and has not raced since. While some improvement is expected, his past form does not inspire confidence. He remains a doubtful prospect for serious consideration.

8 – MANOLETTI MAJESTIC

Chestnut colt (June 6) by Bern Identity out of Gentle Officer

Trainer – Peter-John Parsard

Jockey – Omar Walker

Note – Manoletti Majestic races with figure eight and first-time Lasix

Manoletti Majestic impressed on debut (March 1) with a commanding win over four furlongs. The Sir Howard represents a step up in distance to six furlongs, which can be a testing challenge for three-year-olds. His trainer has opted for equipment changes, adding a figure eight and first-time Lasix. A progressive type, Manoletti Majestic is one to watch closely.

9 – LONDON SPIRIT

Bay colt (February 6) by Bern Identity out of Blufield

Trainer – Jason DaCosta

Jockey – Robert Halledeen

London Spirit is the most experienced runner in the field with seven starts. His performances have been inconsistent, but he tends to fare better over longer trips. If the pace is strong, his chances of running into contention improve significantly.

10 – GOD’S PLAN

Chestnut colt (May 5) by Aveenu Malcainu out of Fearless Abi

Trainer – Gary Subratie

Jockey – Clive Lynch

God’s Plan finished fifth in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes and has not raced since. That form line suggests he has enough ability to secure a minor placing, though a win may be a stretch.

SUMMARY

This Sir Howard field features a mix of proven juveniles and lightly raced prospects. Dashallday looks the pace-setter and main danger, while Salute The Don brings class from the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes. Mohanlal and Manoletti Majestic are progressive types with equipment changes that could sharpen their efforts. Outsiders like Fidelity and So Lucky Am I add intrigue, while London Spirit and God’s Plan may pick up minor placings if the race unfolds to suit.
