Trying Again With London Spirit

2026 3 Year Olds BLACK

The first of ten races on the card is for three-year-old maidens. The distance is seven furlongs, with eight horses nominated to compete. The Quick Galloper’s take on the possible outcome is presented below in draw order.

 1 – LONDON SPIRIT

Bay colt (February 6) by Bern Identity out of Blufield

Jockey – Robert Halledeen

Trainer – Jason DaCosta

Note – London Spirit races with the figure 8 on

London Spirit has raced five times. He finished second in his last start over 6 ½ furlongs, closing well in the final stages. In most of his races, he has shown little early speed but finishes strongly. The extra half furlong should suit him, and the addition of the figure eight may help his performance.

 2 – ANOTHER QUALITY

Chestnut filly (May 8) by Sensational Slam out of Naturally Mystical

Jockey – Raddesh Roman

Trainer – Oral Hayden

Another Quality has raced five times, all at six furlongs or shorter. She has shown speed in those races, which may make the longer trip more testing.

3 – EL CAPITON

Chestnut colt (May 11) by Successful Native out of Empress Nicole

Jockey – Emelio McLean

Trainer – Alford Brown

El Capiton made his debut six days ago and finished fourth, four lengths behind the winner. He showed promise and is expected to improve with more experience.

4 – RED THIRTYONE

Bay colt (March 9) by Hedge Fund out of Roses For Elle

Jockey – Christopher Mamdeen

Trainer – Gary Griffiths

Red Thirtyone finished third in his last start, four lengths behind Senor Biscotti. He finished behind London Spirit in that race, and that order is likely to remain the same.

5 – BARBQ

Bay colt (April 18) by Bern Identity out of Dee-Q

Jockey – Tevin Foster

Trainer – Anthony Smith

Barbq made his debut six days ago. He may need more time to develop before showing his best.

6 – GULFSTREAM CAT

Bay colt (April 3) by Savoy Stomp out of Burning Clearance

Jockey – Shane Ellis

Trainer – Carl Anderson

Note – Gulfstream Cat races with the blinkers off

Gulfstream Cat has raced once and did not show signs of being ready to win at this stage.

 7 – MR CARTER

Bay colt (February 2) by Bern Identity out of Miss Gabbidon

Jockey – Demar Williams

Trainer – Barrington Bernard

Mr Carter makes his debut. He has been prepared with timed workouts, including 48.2 seconds for four furlongs on January 31 and 1:20.3 for six furlongs on February 8. His preparation suggests he should be monitored closely.

8 – ONE IANZHA LINKS

Bay filly (March 23) by Casual Trick out of Nippit

Jockey – Dane Dawkins

Trainer – Anthony Nunes

One Ianzha Links made her debut on December 21, finishing behind Taylor Made after being unable to match the early pace. She was running on in the final furlong of five and should benefit from the longer distance.

 THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT

London Spirit is the most likely to progress with the added distance and equipment change. Red Thirtyone should again finish behind him, while El Capiton is expected to improve. One Ianzha Links could also move forward with the longer trip.
