The Bruceontheloose Sprint, set for Saturday December 6, will once again bring together horses at the Open Allowance | Grade One over six and a half furlongs.

As anticipation builds, Quickgallopja.com revisits the ten contenders from last year’s Bruceontheloose Sprint, tracking their progress or lack thereof since that contest.

FIRST – ATLANTIC CONVOY

Atlantic Convoy did himself proud when landing this prestigious contest, a victory that promised much for the future. Sadly, he has not gone on to establish himself amongst the elite. Seemingly, injuries have curtailed his progress, restricting his appearances on the racecourse and preventing him from fulfilling the potential once glimpsed.

SECOND – MONEY MARKET

Money Market, gallant runner-up in the 2024 Bruceontheloose, has since proven a model of consistency. In 2025 he has managed one win from ten starts, but more tellingly has finished second on five occasions. Though not a prolific winner, he continues to earn his keep and remains a reliable performer who rarely runs a poor race.

THIRD – PERFECT BREW

Tragically, Perfect Brew’s career was cut short following a race-day accident which necessitated euthanasia.

FOURTH – FEARLESS SOUL

Fearless Soul has continued to ply his trade against the very best since his Bruceontheloose effort. His most recent success came over five furlongs straight on June 8, a testament to his enduring spirit. A true warrior, he invariably gives his all and commands respect for his honesty and determination.

FIFTH – MOJITO

Mojito’s Bruceontheloose run was underwhelming, but he has bounced back admirably in 2025. From six starts, he has secured three victories, two at Overnight Allowance level. His crowning achievement, however, was a commanding triumph in the Jamaica Cup, where he humbled a strong international field. A locally bred star, Mojito has captured the imagination of racing fans, who now eagerly await his tilt at the Mouttet Mile.

SIXTH – MAJOR DANGER

Major Danger has struggled to live up to the promise of his early days. In 2025, eight starts have yielded no wins, and he remains searching for the form that once suggested he could be a force to reckon with.

SEVENTH – SENSATIONAL MOVE

Sensational Move is something of a specialist: he thrives on the straight course but falters when asked to negotiate the bends. His talent is undeniable, yet his limitations are equally apparent.

EIGHTH – POWER FROM ABOVE

Power From Above has found life tough in Overnight Allowance company. Power From Above prefers the longer trips, but with the modern programme favouring shorter distances, opportunities have been scarce.

NINTH – MADELYN’S SUNSHINE

Madelyn’s Sunshine has been retired from racing and dispatched to the breeding shed.

TENTH – PRESS CONFERENCE

Press Conference, who finished last in the Bruceontheloose, has unfortunately regressed further since that effort. Once thought capable of better, he has failed to rediscover his form and now languishes well below expectations.
