Expect A Strong ‘Force’ In St Elizabeth Distaff

The St Elizabeth Distaff run over a mile brings together a mix of seasoned campaigners, improving contenders, and Classic winners.

With the mile distance of the Distaff testing both stamina and tactical speed, each runner enters with a unique storyline.

Some are seeking redemption, others are chasing consistency, and a few are poised to announce themselves as genuine forces at this level.

The St Elizabeth Distaff is for fillies and mares at the Overnight Allowance level.

Let’s break down the field:

1 – PRETTY PERFECT

Despite her victory in the Winston “Fanna” Griffiths Classic in September, Pretty Perfect remains at the non-winners of three level. That success was commendable, but she now faces rivals with deeper résumés and sharper form. Against this seasoned company, she is expected to struggle and will need a career-best effort to make an impact.

2 – BURNING HEDGE

Burning Hedge showed her talent during the three-year-old Classic races, but her form dipped when tackling older horses. The Distaff offers her a more favourable assignment, and the mile distance perfectly suits her running style. If she can rediscover her early spark, Burning Hedge has the tools to deliver a strong performance and remind fans of her potential.

3 – SISTREN TREASURE (USA)

This American-bred mare has been below her best in recent outings, but her past performances suggest she has genuine quality. The mile is her ideal trip, and if she can summon the form of her earlier days, she becomes a live contender. Sistren Treasure is a dark horse, capable of surprising if she rebounds at the right time.

4 – IMMEASURABLE JOY

Since stepping into the Overnight Allowance grade, Immeasurable Joy has found the competition too demanding. Her recent runs have lacked spark, and she faces another uphill battle here. Unless she produces a dramatic turnaround, she is unlikely to trouble the principals.

5 – MAIN MISTRESS (USA)

Main Mistress needed four attempts at the Overnight level before finally breaking through with a victory on October 25 over 6½ furlongs. That win showed her progress, and stretching out to a mile should not pose a problem. With her current trajectory of improvement, she is one to keep a close eye on as her upward curve makes her dangerous.

6 – FEARLESS FORCE (USA)

Now racing from a new barn, Fearless Force returns to the Overnight ranks after testing tougher company. Her last success came at 5½ furlongs, but she has the tactical speed to sit close to the pace and strike late. If she adapts well to the mile, she could play a significant role in the finish.

7 – LINGUIST

The Jamaica Oaks winner has proven her class and versatility. In her two starts at this level, she has performed admirably, showing she can either stalk the pace or close from behind. Linguist’s adaptability and proven stamina make her a formidable contender, she enters the Distaff as one of the most reliable threats in the lineup.
